Starting a Home Business

Is it for you?

If you are looking at starting a home business and are intending it to become your main source of income then you need to ask yourself a few questions.

Can you work long hours?

If you are intending to do this on top of your main job then there will be times when you have to put extra hours to get the job done.

Do you have persistence and stamina?

Starting any home business will require persistence and stamina to get the business on to its feet especially when times get tough.

Can you live with insecurity about job and income?

When working for yourself, there is not much in the way of a security blanket. When you start, if you do not work or there is a downturn in your workload then your earnings will correspondingly drop.

You need to have the persistence and faith to keep going.

How do you view failure?

Not every decision will work out right and these can sometimes cost your money, which always seems to hurt more than when you worked for someone else.

You have to view failure as an opportunity to learn from your mistakes so that it will make your business stronger in the future.

I have wasted much money on products that have promised to teach me how to make money on the internet but whilst individually they have been a mistake, collectively they have taught me the skills to get my business from a stuttering part time job to a full-time business.

Do you recognize when you need help and can you delegate to others?

There is no point struggling to master some skill that takes you months to learn and at the end of the day you still pretty much suck at it.

You have to recognize when you need to either seek out proper training or delegate the role on to someone else.
